Springwood Changes -
If the first visit to Springwood astonishes, the second visit invites you to investigate all that has changed. It may be as subtle as a new fountain, a previously unnoticed wood carving, or the new, calming sounds of waterfalls flowing over quarried stone into the new island pond.
However frequently you visit, even if there are no structural changes apparent, you will always enjoy the natural changes gracing Springwood from day to day, month to month, and season to season.

Be sure to ask one of our event coordinators if there are modifications or additions planned. Here we attempt to preview such changes.
The Glass Atrium
In the winter of 2001, Springwood's primary tented reception area over the original Belgian-block patio was converted to the "Glass Atrium," a glass conservatory that provides shelter and warmth for fall and winter events, an air-conditioned dining area for summer events, and an elegant ballroom for viewing the natural surroundings during all events.
The Glass Atrium is a permanent replacement to the 30' x 40' tent that previously occupied this space. It adjoins the manor through the original 18' foot-wide door to its former garage, although little else will remind you of the room's former function. In this primary reception area inside the manor, you will continue to be warmed by the large log-burning fireplace with flagstone hearth, the hardwood floors, and wall of windows that look out to the expansive rear deck. This room also includes a Yamaha electronic piano which can record music while it's played or act as a computerized player-piano.

The majestic white tent that has been witness to many wedding receptions and other social and business events is still available for use, but now it covers a side yard patio to the east of the Manor. The Glass Atrium and tented patio will accommodate up to 225 guests with dancing either inside or under the stars.
Springwood's Villa - Overnight Accommodations & Recreational Facilities
One of the most exciting additions to Springwood is the "Villa," a three-bedroom brick house on nine adjacent acres. Perfect for overnight accommodations for Springwood guests and conference participants, the Villa also includes an in-ground, heated pool; tennis court; a three-hole golf course; and shuffleboard court. Renovations to the house and pool are complete (July 2002) while changes to adjacent recreational facilities are still in progress. Out-of-town wedding guests, bridal parties, and other Springwood conference participants can travel easily between the Manor and the Villa--by walking or riding through the woods on the estate's trails or by driving through the stone pillars of the Manor to the Villa's long driveway, lined by pine trees, off of Hulton Road. The Garden Square
"The Garden Square" is a 70' x 70' outdoor area that has been landscaped to create another site for wedding ceremonies and other outdoor celebrations. The area is formerly the site of Mr. Hoechstetter's two large greenhouses, and thus, is below ground level by about ten feet. The Square will be entered by a wide stone and wooden staircase that is flanked at the bottom on two sides by retaining walls. A third side of the Square is bounded by an existing block building which, in the future, will be lined by a natural arbor to shade guest tables.

Picnic Shelters
With sixty acres, there are naturally many areas that are suitable for picnics and other outdoor recreational events. One such area has already been designated and is used by a local boy scout troop for their outdoor activities. Springwood plans to place picnic shelters and grills in more of these areas in order to make them available for a wider variety of activities.
